2 Things You Can do to Rouse Your Creativity
September 17, 2008
Can’t find the groove when working on a project? Here are two things that I do to get my creative juices flowing:
Study
There are plenty of resources that you look for inspiration. Obvious examples would be books, websites and blogs. Read through design theories, browse at various sample designs, go to different postcards printing services and take a peek at other artists’ portfolios. Sooner or later inspiration will surely strike. Looking at other’s work allows you to reconsider your approach and look at your project from a different perspective. It gives you the advantage of having a fresh perspective on things.
Walk away… Just walk away…
Sometimes the best way to think about something is to not think about it. When you feel that you are overly exerting yourself at a particular project, you need to stop and walk away. Just stop thinking about the task at hand for a moment and rest.
Remember that you are not a machine. Drinking coffee and energy drinks can only do so much. Try doing something new, talk to people, play an instrument, listen to music – just chill. A little bit of rest will do wonders for you and your project.
An important note, a friend of mine once told me that being creative is a force of habit. Just continue and strive to look for something unique. You wouldn’t notice it at first but after a couple of years of doing this again and again, it will become second nature to you.
